According to the Center for Disease Control and other sources: 1 in 3 Americans suffer from HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) Type 1-An estimated 50-80% of the adult population 1 in 5 Americans suffer from HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) Type 2 (Genital Herpes) -An estimated 30% of the adult population over 30. Infection is more common among women, especially for HSV Type 2. Genital herpes infection also is approximately twice as common among African Americans than among Caucasian. The largest increase of genital herpes is among young Caucasian teenagers Genital herpes infection is now five times more common in 12- to 19-year-old Caucasian adolescents. Genital herpes is twice as common among young adults ages 20 to 29 than it was 20 years ago. There are a TON of HSV "gifted" people out there, some who have no knowledge of their virus.
